{12 Days of Christmas Movies}

Between work and life, it has been a very busy year for me. The decision, very early in December, was to make the most of the Christmas season. With my Sirius radio firmly set on the Holly station for the entire month, I could not help but make sure I watched every one of my favorite Christmas movies.
Instagram helped me keep track and countdown my favorite top 12:
 12. Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer | 11. Scrooged | 10. The Holiday | 9. Home Alone | 8. Frosty the Snowman | 7. The Santa Clause | 6. The Garfield Christmas Special | 5. White Christmas | 4. A Charlie Brown Christmas | 3. Jingle All The Way | 2. How The Grinch Stole Christmas | 1. Trapped in Paradise

{Have a Very Merry Christmas!!!}

{September/October Review}

I'm back! It has been very hectic the past two months and unfortunately I don't really see it slowing down or stopping through the end of the year. Thankfully, I have been reminded that it is not my place to stress over things beyond my control. Just let it go. Below are the four best pics from my Instagram that represent my progression over the last few weeks.
TV Show I'm Loving | Hell's Kitchen - It is back and I love everything about this show.

New-to-Me Game Diamond Digger Saga - I got bored and stopped playing Candy Crush & Juice Cubes months ago. Then of course boredom happened again and I find myself downloading another game... this one. It's from the makers of Candy Crush, so you can kind of guess what this game it like. It is definitely holding my attention at the moment. And it is free.

New-to-Me Show | Call the Midwife - This show is a period drama set in the 1950s about a new midwife, working alongside some fellow midwives and nuns in East London. Not sure what brought me to this show but I enjoyed going through the first three seasons on Netflix.

Favorite Downloads | Great British Bake Off - As soon as I heard the show was back on, I went on a immediate search for the episodes for season 5. Love this show!
Inspector Lewis - What came as a complete surprise to me in October was to find this show had came back with a new season. If you follow this murder-mystery show (surprise surprise), you know the last season ends with one of the two main characters retiring and the other quitting. This season they are both back but there is a twist. After finding out the show had returned, I could not downloaded these episodes fast enough.

{August Review}

Been gravitating towards spicy foods for some reason. General Tso chicken on the go. | Rainy saturday treat | Starbucks.com haul | A little Death in Paradise for lunch | Finally cashing-in my birthday reward | Interrupting Shark Week to watch one of my favorite Robin Williams movies. | Little surprise on my birchbox this month. How did they know? | Love finding an unexpected coupon on my receipts | A Mountain Dew icee?!?! Amazing! | Monogram decals makes life so much better | I don't know where you've been my whole life, Dunkin Donut bowtie...but welcome. | ThrowBack Thursday: my younger-older brother and me

Favorite YouTube Video/Blog Post | Ice Bucket Challenge - YouTube: I am not subscribed to Glozell's YouTube channel but her ice bucket challenge video has to be the best one I have seen so far. Hilarious! There is an edited clip of her video floating around everywhere but if you have not seen the full video, check it out here

TV Show I'm Loving | Shark Week: As always, Shark Week on the Discovery channel was great.

Favorite Shop (at the moment) | OhLaLaAli - Etsy Shop: Monogram decals makes life so much better... and this Etsy shop has some amazing ones. I discovered this shop through Instagram and quickly placed an order. There was a bit of trouble with the post office taking issue with my address and returning the package to the seller. However, the seller handled the situation perfectly... I could not have asked for a better response. I have already placed a second order.

{July Review}

A little "Yellow Whiz." | Usually hate spicy things, but completely obsessed with these chips. | "I only came here for the barbecue sauce." | Changing backgrounds to celebrate the holiday weekend. | Fun and games with my niece and nephew. | Discovering a new subscription box. | Birthday card... Thanks mom. | Kick-starting an early morning shopping session. | There is a first time for everything. | One of the best deals in town. | Marshmallow bed and church. | Found my name. | Epic oatmeal chocolate chuck cookie. | New addition to my family. | Rushed another Nature Box | Walgreen's Haul

New To Me TV Shows | Broadchurch - I've been hearing different people talk/rave about this UK miniseries for months. All the episodes had been aired and people were still going on about it. This miniseries is essentially about two detectives trying to solve the murder of a young boy in a small seaside community. This month I finally got around to downloading the series and ended up watching all of the episodes in one day. Hooked. If you like a good whodunit, I challenge you to watch the first episode and not get hooked.

New Movie | The Grand Budapest Hotel - I'm not sure how describe this movie other than it is a hilariously off-beat and slightly dark tale that recounts the adventures of a "legendary" concierge and his lobby boy at a famous European hotel during wartimes. If you love very random/strange movies, this is the movie to see this year. Please check out the trailer.

Favorite Website (at the moment) | NatureBox - I am a little obsessed with this subscription service right now. This services provides health snack options which allows you to choose your snacks for each box... or you can allow yourself to be "surprised" and they will choose the snacks. The subscription starts out at $20 a month for 5 snack bags, with other box options for an additional cost. The two huge perks I find with this service is (1) you have the option to "skip a month" if you do not want the box that month and (2) if you can't wait until ship date for the next box, there is an option to "ship the next box as soon as possible." If you decide to try this box and you like pineapples, I recommend you add the Big Island Pineapple to your pantry on the site... trust me, you will not regret it. Also, the website usually offers 50% off your first box for new customers*.

*If you don't see the 50% off offer, do a quick search on YouTube for a NatureBox review and I'm sure you'll find a coupon code.

{June Review}

Instagram Pic: Story of my life.

  • New To Me Shows | Bitten: Shock, horror. This is not a murder mystery show... per se. There is definitely some murders & some mysteries but it is more of a sci-fi show, which appeals to my love for crappy sci-fi/fantasy movies. This show centers around the first & only female werewolf and her struggle between basically trying to act human and being true to her pack. The way this pack/family is portrayed makes me think of them as the werewolf version of the Cullens, if they had a TV shows. Ups: The entire first season is available on Netflix. Downs: Rumor has it that there will be a season 2 but filming has not even started.
  • Special Events | World Cup: I love how far the US was able to get in the standings. However, to be honest, the Brazilian team is the reason why I started watching soccer years ago, so I do hope they win.
  • Apps I Loving | Walgreens App: I like to think of myself as a couponer. I take the time to cut coupons but more than half the time, I forget to bring them with me... or I do bring them but just forget to use them. The Walgreens app (or go on their website), it allows you to virtually clip/attach coupons to your Balance Rewards card (the store's discount card). When you checkout, make sure to you have your rewards card swiped and the coupons you've clipped will be automatically applied. Brilliant! No more having to keep up with paper coupons... and the coupon is still applied with in-store deals (unless restrictions apply, of course).

{May Review}

Four of my favorite graphic/pics of the month.
Follow me on Instagram here.

Favorite YouTube Video/Blogs Post | Our List of Awkward Moments - YouTube: DanIsNotOnFire and Sprinkle of Glitter recently did a video of their awkward moments together. One of the funniest (laugh out loud while crying, kind of funny) videos I've seen in a very long time. Hands down, hilarious.

Song I'm Loving | Do I Wanna Know? by Arctic Monkeys: In April, I was totally in the mellow music vibe. (Check out the review of April here.)  The month of May was all about bands like Linkin' Park. As you can see, my taste in music tends to vary quite severely at times.

App I'm loving | Water Your Body: This app is a great way to track the amount of water you're drinking day to day... for those of us who to forget to drink it. The up and down side to this app is the reminder tone. The tone sounds like a glass being filled up with liquid. Upside: This app is kind of well timed with when I'm thinking about getting something to drink. And it helps me make the decision to choose water over the alternatives. Downside: I'm sure you can imagine what happens after you having been drinking a bunch of water all day, then you suddenly hear the sound of water running. Yeah, not the best thing when you're out in public.

{2nd Lent of the Year??}

Today marks exactly 40 days until my birthday and for those days, I have decided to go on a fast... of sorts. I thank God I have no health problems but the time comes where you realize there are some things/habits that need to change. This fast is going to involve a lot more than just abstaining from certain foods & drinks... so this is more like a 2nd Lent for me (hence the title). Here I go...
Lord be with me.

{Bath and Body Works Online | Review}

In an attempt to slow way down on my shopping, I choose to limit my time in stores and the mall. So, it was at 8pm on a Sunday that I found out Bath and Body Works had their 3-wick candles on sale... and it was the last day of the sale. At this time of night on a Sunday, my local mall was closed and I just had to be apart of this 2 for $22 sale. Off to their website I went for the first time. I've not heard the best shipping reviews for their items... a lot of broken things going on. When I got to the site, they had an additional 20% off plus free shipping. Talk about meant to be. I only picked up 2 candles and 4 scentportables refills (I'm a little obsessed with the scent of lemons right now, hence the candle selection. And island margarita is my spring/summer car scent.)

My gosh, this has to be one of the best first time shopping experiences I have ever had online. Order was placed late on Sunday... shipped confirmation email on Monday... and the order was delivered before I got home from work on Wednesday. Amazing!! No broken items; it was extremely well packaged. Will definitely shop here again.

{April Review}

April via Instagram
Follow me on Instagram here.
Catching up with a childhood friend | "One ring to rule them all" | I'm trying people! | DMV on a Saturday | Sewing machine refresher course c/o my mom | Back to 'I Red A Good Book' | Late night Wal-mart run | So comfortable. So cheap. | First taste of Church's | Weekend uniform | I have great co-workers | Packages!! | Trying a new creamer | See, I can cook | Finally found the prefect burgundy | All black in the gym | Homemade egg rolls | Four words: Triple Chocolate mini cupcakes. | All by myself... | Tornadoes and flash flood warnings

Random Website/Post | Huffington Post - Lion King Cast Sings 'Circle of Life' On Plane For The Best In-Flight Performance Ever: Who doesn't love the Circle of Life?!?!

TV Show I'm Loving | Death in Paradise - I love this show! Of course it is a crime drama but this show is absolutely hilarious. It is set on an island in the Caribbean, where a detective inspector is sent to investigate a murder and ends up having to stay on the island... and dealing with the locals and tourist. As much as I love crime drama, if you were to take out that part of the show, I would probably still find it entertaining. I very quickly went through the first 3 seasons of the show this month and can not wait for the 4th season (which is being filmed this year). You can find a few episodes on YouTube... but I'm sure you internet savvy people will be able to locate all three seasons.

New To Me Shows | Doc Martin - This show is about a successful, but socially inept, surgeon who develops a fear of blood and has to stop practicing surgery. He get a position as the GP in a seaside village... and we watch as he goes about interacting with the locals. Very entertaining. Seasons 2-5 are available to watch instantly on Netflix.

Artist I'm Loving | Aloe Blacc - Hands down, I love the song "Wake Me Up". I was listening to the acoustic version of this song while getting ready one day. When the song ended, Spotify rolled over to the next song on the Lift Your Spirit album... I was hooked from there and ended up listening to the entire album. If you haven't already, you definitely need to check him out.

{Tough Lent}

This Lenten season was a surprisingly hard one for me. Whew. And I had thought that giving up soda was hard. To explain: For lent this year, I give up YouTube and Twitter. I used to spend a kind of obscene amount of time watching YouTube videos and scrolling to through my twitter feed. Twitter was easy part. After about a week, I kind of forgot about Twitter all together. YouTube, well... Subscribed to over 100 channels + the YouTube app on my blu-ray player = almost completely replaced my TV watching. Over this period, I finally manged to bring myself back to watching some programs on TV. The mornings were hardest because I never truly found a replacement for the videos I used to watch.

Now that Lent is over YouTube is back... but there has been some unexpected changes in my viewing. After just 40 days, it seems like my whole outlook has changed. Without realizing it, I had fallen into a rut with the channels I watched. Channels I used to find entertaining no longer hold my interest. And some of the channels I find them completely mind-numbing to watch now. Of course, there are some channels that are still holding strong and I thankful to be able to come back to those. Definitely time for a clear out.

Have you ever stopped watching something for awhile, only to come back to it and realize it is crap?

{March Review}

A Monday | More egg rolls | 1st car wash in months | Why am I trying to give up sodas again? | Pre-spring coffee run | Amen! | 3rd Starbucks Ever... it was okay | Love a good tote | Always look forward to seeing this little Exit button at the end of a work day | Yes, it is a Jungle Juice | Weekday movie night | Comic book tees | Bright colored bags | Walgreen's haul | Take the pill, not the liquid | Solution to the coffee creamer thieves in my office.

Favorite Blogs/Youtubers | IHeart Organizing - As someone who excels in organized chaos, I am always drawn to people who are truly organized.

TV Show I'm Loving | Castle - Yes, it is another crime drama but what can I say... it's my genre of choice.

Online Shops | Zara - Spring happened this month. And Zara is my favorite place to go when I'm in "desperate need" of a new tote for the spring/summer. Love.

{Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-In Whitening Pen | Review}

I am back with another review. Courtesy of Influenster, I have been testing out a new product from Colgate for the last two weeks. As a part of their Optic White line, Colgate has created a toothbrush with a built-in whitening pen which is advertised to give you whiter teeth in 2 days. The pen clicks into the base of the toothbrush which makes for the prefect traveling item. I must say, I am not the biggest fan of the bristles on the toothbrush but after two weeks, you get used to it. The whiten pen is quick and easy to use, however the applicator doesn't apply the gel as evenly as it could... a quick pat of your finger solves any issue though. Overall, it definitely took a little longer that the advertised 2 days but I found the combination of the toothbrush and whitening pen (and the mini optic white toothpaste included in the Influenster box) worked for me.

You can check-out other reviews of the Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-In Whitening Pen and many other products on Influenster.

Need an recommendation for a toothbrush? Try the 360° Optic White toothbrush. Review here.

*While I received these products complimentary from Influenster, the thoughts and opinions are my own.

{2014: _________ for Lent}

Over the past few weeks, I've really been thinking about Lent, what I should being doing with my time and what I'm actually spending my time on. Did I hear you ask, "what am I doing with the majority of my time?" Shock, horror! I'm on the internet. Facebook, Bloglovin, Pinterest, shopping... the list goes on and on. However, the majority of my time gets sucked into my subscription/news feeds on YouTube and Twitter.

Kind of needless to say, I am giving up YouTube and Twitter for Lent.
So, here's to breaking some time-consuming habits this season.

{January/February Review}

These thin & crispy chips are everything! | I've crossed over to the dark-side with my new phone | A little obsessed with this tea | Trying out another subscription box | Cheese... yes! | NC Snowpocalypse 2014 | Sorting out some of my jewelry | A Go Cup lunch. | Rugby. I'm starting to like this... | One can never have too many egg rolls | February Birchbox | Loving this new bedding

Favorite Blogs/YouTubers | A Beautiful Mess - Blog: This site is seriously my first stop in the "Blogging World" when I'm in need of crafty/food/drink ideas. January and February always seems to fly by for me and it's nice to have a go to place for ideas.

Random Website/Post | Huffington Post - How to Get the Most Out of Your Netflix Subscription: Things that make you go hmm. If you have Netflix (and you have other people using your account as well), this is a must read.

Online Shops | Best Buy - I love site-to-store stores!! Being able to shop online for the "online deals" and use coupon codes... then pick-up the severely discounted item in the store is awesome. When the speaker on my phone stopped working near the end of January, BestBuy.com was my first stop. Every other site's offers got compared to theirs and, just like with my last two phones, their offer was the best... free. Less than 12 hours later, I had my new phone in hand. Love it!

App I'm Loving | MyFitnessPal - If you're on the hunt for a food diary app, then you should definitely try this FREE app. Answer a few quick questions and it gives you an estimate of the amount of calories you should be taking in... As you add entries to the diary, it counts down the calories remaining. You can also add any exercises done throughout the day. Two favorite parts of this app are: if you're eating out, it will pull the nutritional info from the restaurant's website; and you can scan the bar-codes on items to get the nutritional info.

{December Review}

Great fries, even better burgers. | Had a wonderful time at the company's Christmas party | Early Christmas presents for my shadow (aka my niece) | Super late present wrapping | Holiday buffet at work | Yet another holiday party.

Favorite Blogs/YouTubers | Sprinkle of Chatter - YouTube: There was a ton of YouTubers doing Vlogmas* this year but Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter has to be the best. Vlogmas is were people "vlog" or post videos everyday until Christmas Eve. Although Louise did not post everyday... or even most days, I found her to be the most genuine. Not to say that I valued vloggers that did posted everyday any less but, as always, Louise just seems more natural and "real" in her videos. (If you're confused, Sprinkle of Chatter is Louise's second YouTube channel. I like her main channel, Sprinkle of Glitter, just as much.)

New-to-Me Videos/Playlists | Project Library - YouTube: People have been talking about this series for a little while now but I finally got around to watching it in December... this series is hilarious. It's about... just watch it! Check out the trailer here and the playlist for the episodes here.

Favorite TV Shows/Movies | Almost Human - This show is set in the future where humans police officers in the LAPD are partnered up with androids. And, as the title suggests, the androids are quite life-like. I find the show entertaining... and the main character is played by Karl Urban... so, nuff said. The only downside is this show will probably be cancelled after the first season, given my track record with shows I like. You can check out the first 5 episodes on Hulu.

Apps/Games I’m Loving | Juice Cubes - Are you over Candy Crush and need a another game to past the time? I find this game to be extremely easy but no less addicting than Candy Crush. This game is currently free on Google Play.

{52 Week Money Challenge | New Year Resolution}

For two thousand fourteen, I am saving money. A friend posted about the 52 Week Money challenge on Facebook a few weeks back... and I gotta say that this is kind of genius. What you do is: get a jar and the first week of the year you put $1 in it... then week two, you put $2 in it... you see where I'm going with this? For more info and printable/PDF charts, check out StuckAtHomeMom.com. What a great way to save for a trip or Christmas.
Now, I just have to go steal a mason jar from my mom. Ha!
