{Much Needed Windshield Wipers}

I love getting usefully/practical, slightly random gifts. Gifts for no reason at all are the one that make me the most happiest. Because it means that the gifter was thinking about you and chose to get you something "just because." I love that! I try to be the gifter of those random gift more often...why not share the love with my friends and family. These wipers were one of those gifts. It has been over a year and a half since I last changed my wipers. Yes, my mom give them to me which is a very mom-thing to do but that doesn't change the happiness that I felt from receiving such an unexpected and welcomed gift. Someone in my life is gonna be receiving a very random gift...very soon...

{Hi, my name is Crystal and I'm an Introvert...sort of}

Flips: Rainbow| Pants and tank: Old Navy| Shirt: GAP
There is a lot of sharing that goes on in the blogosphere...when I saw Elaine from I'm clothed much's post about the Top 10 Myths About Introverts I first had to back-track these statements to the original source to read the entire article that included this list, then share it.
Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.
This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.

Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Myth #3 – Introverts are rude.

Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

Myth #4 – Introverts don’t like people.

On the contrary, Introverts intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. If you are lucky enough for an introvert to consider you a friend, you probably have a loyal ally for life. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance, you’re in.

Myth #5 – Introverts don’t like to go out in public.

Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be alone.

Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts are weird.

Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts are aloof nerds.

Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to relax and have fun.

Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts can fix themselves and become Extroverts.

A world without Introverts would be a world with few scientists, musicians, artists, poets, filmmakers, doctors, mathematicians, writers, and philosophers. That being said, there are still plenty of techniques an Extrovert can learn in order to interact with Introverts. (Yes, I reversed these two terms on purpose to show you how biased our society is.) Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

You learn something knew everyday...

{I sooo have to get to her restaurant one day.}

The Food Network is my go-to channel when there is nothing else I find interesting on TV. I guess you could say that I am picky with the things that I watch. I'm kind of all over the place with my TV watching...but I admit that I love crime dramas NCIS, Criminal Minds & Leverage to name a few.  I watch a fair few British shows, Docs and Doc-like shows like Are You Being Served? & As Time Goes By to Deadliest Catch & Myth Busters. Don't get me wrong, I'm not this hoity-toity person that, "ooonly watches shows with meaning or purpose" {in my poshest voice}. HA! I do watch very ridiculous shows like The Fantasy Factory , World's Dumbest & Danny and the Dingo. Love them!
By the way, I HATE The Jersey Shore even the commercials! There is absolutely nothing interesting or entertaining about them. I wish they would just go away... Okay, rant over.

{I'm a Little Bit of a Stereotype}

I LOVE watermelon!!!!!! and chicken!
This is my first watermelon of the year and I could not be more thrilled. The love I have for this fruit is unmatched by any other food. It really is pitiful...but I will end up eating soooo much of it that it kindof hurts to move. Sad I know, but that doesn't stop me from doing it again and again...and again. It's not an addiction because I fully admit that I have a kindof unhealthy relationship with fresh watermelon...not that pre-cut stuff you can buy at the store year-round. I don't do much shopping grocery shopping that is so I wouldn't know what was fresh/ripe without some help. However picking a ripe watermelon is a talent that I definitely have. I have that thumping thing down pat.
First watermelon down...many more to come...

{Bumming in Spring colors}

Flips: Rainbow| Pants: Thrifted| Shirt: Gap| Tank: Old Navy

Today was an awful day...
I was super tired when I woke up this morning, so I decided that some super comfortable clothes were in order More like, I fumbled around in the closet until I found something I could tolerate wearing. The concept of these clothes was great...comfortable wide-legged khakis and a long sleeved shirt that was warm enough to survive that icebox of an office I work in & it was sheer enough to wear outside. I surprised myself with which a Spring light colored outfit. I'm usually not much of a fan...see how much I was out of it this morning. But this outfit + being tired + having a small amount of work to do (which made the day seem longer) = a horrible day. I'm definitely gonna make this an early night. Later.

{Sisters & the Mini-Choir}

On Sunday we had the gospel singing group, Sisters, perform during morning service.

 Wesley sung the last song with the Sisters...

I don't know how I feel about the Sisters...however their opening act, FCC's Mini-Choir, was hilarious!

{It was meant to be}

Shoes: Puma| Dress and Cardigan: Old Navy| Tank: Target| Fleur-de-lis Necklace: Macy's

I am all about comfort when it comes to the clothes and shoes I wear. So as I was reading a magazine (Glamour April 2010) Saturday, I came across a story that was right up my alley. Clothes with Personality! give some tips and inspirations for changing up your outfits.
The points were: wear a serious skirt, double the color, add tomboy touches, revel in ruffles, be more bejeweled, and mix in menswear.
That article basically gives me a fashion license to wear sneakers with dress which I would do anyways but this just made it official.
PS: This outfit is from Sunday.
The proof...

I think one of the best things I have ever done was put this jar of M&Ms on my desk at work. Chocolate is definitely a comfort food for me...& these little shots of energy always seem to make the day fly by. I don't even mind the ridicule I get for having them...or making my designs "little Christmas trees," as one of my co-workers called them. Thanks Jame! Ha!

{You Fail B}

I am a procrastinator by nature, so when it comes to blogging I really try hard to be semi consistent. I even set a goal for myself starting this month to publish at least 15 days out of the month. If you check my archive, you'll see that this is a bit of a stretch for me. So when I have everything in place with all photos edited and something in mind, I have to go ahead a post... otherwise I'll end up getting distracted or just won't feel like it anymore.

PS: The rain/hail is coming down super hard here (NC). The perfect sleeping weather...sounds like a plan.

So with Blogger being out of commission semi-epic fail for about 24 hours, you would just know that I was soooo inspired to post yesterday. Need least to say, I no longer feel that inspired and forgot what I was gonna write about. I spent that time catching up on the past episodes of The Fantasy Factory...LOVE that show!
So this is what I wore...yesterday...

{Not really a floral person}

Florals | Everybody, Everywear
So today is the floral challenge from Everybody, Everywhere and I must say the I do not own 1 floral item. I was simply amazed going through my closet trying to find a floral item to wear. I guess that is something I'll need to add to my collection this Spring. The best I could come up with was this leafy top (I figured that flowers have leaves...so this should count as being a floral. Yea, I like that. We'll go with that. Ha).

PS: This is post 100!!! WOOHOO!!
I feel like Wendy Williams with that PS. Ha!

{I don't get to go to children's church?!?}

Mother's Day is always something special at FCC. I think this day should be added to the list of days when more people than normal show up at church you know, at their mother's request. Today was a little different though...we had praise and worship but no sermon. The time was used to give out 12 scholarships to 12 different women who are continuing their education. The Lisa Canady Scholarship Fund is something that the women's ministry in FCC created to encourage/help/inspire the women of the church.
After giving away the scholarships the essay that each recipient wrote for the scholarship was read as well...that took some time, we have this ceremony of sorts where they give out flowers to different mothers like: the mother that has the youngest baby in church my sister won this one with my nephew coming in at 8 weeks old... or the mother who has the most children/grandchildren/etc in church the pastor's wife's mother won this one with 21 people in church. wow!
It took the entire church service to get all of this done today...which my neice was not happy about at all. Apparently she had been waiting to be release so she could go to children's church...When church was dismissed, she looked around and said, "Where are they going? I don't get to go to children's church?!?!?" At 4.5 years old, this girl is certainly entertaining. Ha.

Some shots from the service...kind of picture heavy...

{Extras}

Welcome to the 2nd installment of Extras (Bits of inspiration/joy/achievements from last week). I have finally gotten around to "spring cleaning," which for me that means I am packing away winter clothes and just moving stuff around in my closet. I am proud to say that I have some huge bags to take to the Salvation Army and a few items to add to my eBay store. I'm so stoked on the new closet setup.

{About As Shiny As I Get}

I have a lot of clothes but really only wear the basics. Well...this basic/semi-shiny cardigan is my all-time favorite of all the cardigans I own which is a fair few. And I love my boat shoes!! The most comfortable shoes EVER! Such a great outfit choice this morning I'll try not to dislocate my shoulder by patting myself on the back. So...aside from the usual office drama, I had a great day.

{I Can Go To Work in Sleepy Pants}

Well, not really but these pants (so awesome) definitely feel like PJs. They are super wide-legged and super comfortable. I had to keep reminding myself where I was, as I walked around the office today. They just put and keep me in such a relaxed/chill/sleepy mode that I almost regret wearing them.
Love them!
